L.I.T. History

Leaders In Training (L.I.T.) was founded by Clint May in the summer of 2002.This ministry is centered on the discipleship of children and empowering them for ministry in the church and on mission. At the age of Clint Maynine, Clint May trusted Christ as His Savior. He grew up attending church as a child; however, he was not taught how to personally walk with Christ daily. Clint learned later in life the importance of spiritual disciplines and how that helped him develop his spiritual life.

Clint started seminary January 1989 and began ministry as a children’s pastor in a small church in Cleburne, Texas, in March of that year. He entered into ministry with a deep passion to disciple children and help them develop their personal relationship with Christ. He served for 13 years in three churches before arriving in Fort Worth, Texas in 2002.

On May 8, 2002, Clint became the Children’s Minister at Wedgwood Baptist Church. That summer was wide open for him to follow God’s leadership to disciple and train preteens (5th-6th graders) for ministry and missions. As Clint took this ministry path, he witnessed transformation in the lives of children as they learned how to walk with Christ. Clint also witnessed that summer the children’s ability to affectively share the Gospel and lead children to Christ.

In the summer 2004, Clint took 35 preteens and adults on a mission trip to Corpus Christi, Texas. On the trip, the preteens were trained and released in local apartments to lead worship, teach evangelistic Bible studies, and lead children to Christ. During the trip, God moved in a powerful way in and through the lives of those preteens. They led 27 children and students to Christ. Since 2002, L.I.T. has sponsored multiple mission trips in five states with more than 2,750 children, preteens, students, and leaders in attendance. Children and preteens have led more than 1,150 to Christ in the last 15 years.

In the summer of 2002, Clint began developing tools to disciple children through personal devotionals and leadership materials that showed the leaders how to disciple children. L.I.T. has now published more than 28 different devotionals, leadership guides, and evangelistic tools to disciple children in 1st-6th grades.

In 2005, other churches began the journey of L.I.T. and the joy of discipling children. L.I.T. is currently in eight states, Mexico, and South Africa. The ministry has impacted thousands of children, students, and adults in multiple states since its birth in 2002.

CDM (Children’s Discipleship Ministries) International was registered as a non-profit 501(c)(3) on August 26, 2010. On December 30, 2013, the ministry changed its name to L.I.T. Ministries.
